Paper Scrapping

I have done three paper LOs I wish I was better at paper scrapping it isn't like I'm short on supplies here I'm actually flooded with them. I thought about taking a class here but never find myself motivated to actually do it. Maybe one day. But for the mean time I struggle with just ideas of how to create a LO. Sounds strange because I do it digitally, but it is different, at least in my mind. Where do I put what? How do I start? How do I do all the things I do digitally in paper? And where is the undo button? :) Ok so I can't have it all I suppose but I just feel overwhelmed with paper.

I think one thing I should do is start with simple LOs which I've done below. Although I may not wow anyone with them, everyone has to start somewhere. I should also use sketches like Pencil Lines and just go for it using their CT LOs as a guideline until I figure it out for my own.

Another thing I don't like is my handwriting. I swear some of my kids can write better than me on a good day. I just don't write anymore, I find it annoying so I don't enjoy it and my hand cramps after a few lines. Not to mention it just isn't pretty. I would have to work on that too, or buy an old typewriter and find creative ways to add journaling on pages with my computer vs my actual hand.

Ikea Goodness

I bought this put it together yourself wooden box from Ikea a while back and decided the other day to finally put it together. Not that difficult even with little hands trying to help me out.

Hannah picked out the papers and I embellished a little, not so much, and had it done within an hour.

Nothing fancy or overdone just a simple box to hold ink, pens and some embellishments. One day I'll complete my entire space and I'm sure by that time I'll be moving to a new house as is always the case.

Milestone

I think this is my most favorite LO at this point. Of course that is subject to change as I continue to create! But this one is from the heart, evidence of that is in the journaling, and I'm so happy of how it turned out. The title is a play on the word "Milestone" with Umar having DS this changes greatly. So I used the word "miles" to indicate the extra hard work he has to put into achieving them and "tone" to indcate that it is his muscle tone that is the hurdle he has to get over.

Journaling: It has taken me a little while to no longer focus on when you will accomplish what. I admit it wasn’t an easy thing to unlearn considering four came ahead of you. But I have gotten there and I know that these things will come in time and with a lot of hard work from you. You impress me greatly with each new thing you achieve and my heart swells up with emotion every time I look upon you for I am so awfully proud of you as young as you are I can only imagine what you will bless my world with as you grow. I may have to wait a little bit longer for you to do them but I will enjoy every extra minute of it as I continue to watch you grow and experience the wonders of life that I will not take for granted again

Vacationing Can't Stop Scrapper!

No, vacationing on my own with five to seven kids everyday hasn't stopped this gal from scrapping. Although I would love to be more mobile in order to take more pictures sadly I can't have all that I want but having some wonderful kits to work with surely helps.

First up my latest working with Joanne Bain Designs' Little Boy Blue I just love this kit. I am always on the look out for good boy kits and Joanne certainly made me say WOW!!

I'll be working on my second LO with this kit in the next couple of days.

I am also guesting for Faith True this month, yes I tend to take a large chunk to chew :) But who can resist an opportunity with Faith's designs and her How Old Are You kit. This was such a fun Birthday kit perfect to scrap Umar's b-day cake pictures with.

The first vacation pictures I scrapped were with my new CT with Lindsay Jane. An absolutely wonderful beach kit, Another Day In Paradise, that I didn't even need a beach for.

Before I even left for vacation I was given a kit from Armina to work with. Far Away really made me think of the 8 years that have gone by since I moved to Saudi. Time flies that is for sure.

And of course it should be no surprise that traveling alone with five kids made me think back on some of the memorable travel times we have had. Heading up Elemental Scraps Journal It challenge this week I decided to go with a travel story. Using their new Route 66 mega I scrapped about the first time we traveled with the twins to Saudi.

And none of my vacation memories would not be complete without Malaysia being in here somewhere. Using Mirage by Meredith at ES it was perfect to show off a picture I took of fruit common in Malaysia. Every time I see it in the store I think of Malaysia all the fun we had there and how I so want to go back. I even pay the outrageous import prices for the fruit.

Than I got my hands on her new collaboration kit with Late Night Scraps called Safari Stampede. I just loved it so much I turned one of my LOs into my blog ware here.

I also created another LO based on my dream to one day actually go on a safari. Being so close to Africa it would be a crime if I didn't one day take on such an adventure. I'm sure I can pull Mr. Man along.

CT Team: Digital Scrap Cafe

I decided to give the CT world a bit of a go once again. I had a short lived CT time at Scrapbook Artisan Guild before I had Umar. It was fun, I enjoyed the push to create different types of LOs an I think it was just what I needed to do now after being in such a slump for a while.

My first invite for a CT team came from Digital Scrap Cafe a rather new store with some wonderful gals trying to get it up and really moving. I've made several LOs from their products which is really diverse and not over priced like way to many stores these days.

I decided to start answering a few one kit calls from various designers. I got the picked to work with three so far as well as word art that I have yet to complete a few layouts for. I have however completed the following ones for three designers.

The first was On The Road by Lara's Digi World I created this QP

I also created a LO for the Digi Dare challenge entitled Life's Ride it was fun to create journaling around the elements in the kit

There were such cool elements in this kit that I came up with the perfect idea for one of the boxes, put a child in it of course. And since the LO was about brothers the smaller brother had to go in!

Another kit I got to work with was Kara Fedricks' Sultry Summer with some beautiful colors and I made two LOs with this kit as well. The first one, entitled Tender Moments, is one that I just love. The picture just shows such a tenderness between Hannah and Mariam that isn't displayed all the time. Can't blame Hannah really Mariam can drive anyone crazy. So these moments are ones that I love to capture

And since this kit had an ice pop as one of the elements there is no way I couldn't be inspired to scrap Umar considering his addiction.

The last kit I was given to work with was by Scrapper Girl Designs' kit called Ainsley after her newly born daughter. Soft pink and browns are perfect for all the girls I have around here. I decided on using the slide in the kit and showcase Mariam and my feelings about her going off to school next year. I can't wait but will miss the moments that we share each day it is bitter sweet.

I have some news to share about but that will have to wait until tomorrow as I have to keep working on updating this blog tonight. If only there were 48 hrs in a day I could get half the things done I want to.

Wood Working

There is a little scrap booking shop here in Bahrain that has cute little wood pieces that one of the workers cuts out. I've been having some fun working with some of what I've picked up.

A really easy project was Jihad's name, he picked this out one time when he was with me at the shop. He chose the letters and all of Jolee's stickers for his letters. I picked up some papers from lasting impressions and it took all of about two hours total with the help of Mariam.

After finding out how easy this was I decided to do Umar's name as well.

While I was in the store getting some papers for Jihad's name I noticed she had cut out little crowns. She had created a little book but didn't add holes to the ones for sale because she said the girls liked making them individually. I thought that would be a cute idea and made one each for the girls.

The hardest part for these little crowns was trying to co-ordinate different products. Luckily I have built up quite a stash recently and it worked out. I didn't want to make them to busy and thought simply was better.

My last project was a letter holder I've had for quite some time. A friend of mine has been on the hunt for one and I decided this will be hers. It came out rather cute and I'll be picking up another to make for myself.

All of these were easy little projects and can easily be done with children. Most of these were with the help of Mariam.
